![]() We wondered if some of the crew just wanted to get home after a long day. Maybe the darkness made it confusing for people who were unfamiliar with deep water and snorkel gear. But some of the crew the night we were there were impatient with people who were struggling to get in and out of the water. Secondly, clients are told that you do not need to know how to swim, which is technically true. ![]() Luckily, Iīrought my own my husband was on the chilly side. First of all, the “wetsuits” were really shirts and not a step- in singlet. There were some aspects of the trip that missed the mark. There were lots of them and we feel that the trip was worth the money from that standpoint. We elected to go on the 8:00 night Manta Ray Snorkel, and loved the time spent watching the rays. We chose this company because of a recommendation from the Hawaii Revisited travel guide. I would definitely recommend this tour! Read more To top things off, the crew must've gotten word that the whales were active, as they detoured so that we could see breaching whales before docking back at shore. Very cool to see! From the water, you'll have a beautiful mountain view of the shore, so when you're not looking down, the sights on land will be just as amazing. The number and variety of fish we saw were very different from what you'll see at the beaches - beautiful and colorful, and there was a school of small blue fish that was jumping out of the water being chased by a bigger fish. It was definitely worth it, as the boat anchored in an area that is not accessible by land to anyone that does not have at least 35% Hawaiian ancestry, so it wasn't an area I'd otherwise have been able to visit. I wondered if it would be worth purchasing a snorkeling tour rather than just snorkeling on our own at one of the beaches. They went into the water with us, pointed out and taught us a bit about some of the sea life. My family and I had a fantastic time on the tour, and the staff couldn't have been more fun and accommodating. ![]() I don't think any of us heard a word he was saying as we were paying attention to the turtles. The dolphins were right out of the docking area for viewing and the turtles were next to the boat while the captain was briefing us in the beginning. The check in process was aittle confusing as they were taking in two groups but other than that, of all the different snorkel tours we've done on the islands and on the carribbean on the past, they said this was their favorite. She saw a white tipped reef shark and asked of we wanted a picture and dived down for the shot! We'd them continue following her around as a personal guide. Even though they asked her over 100 questions, she was not annoyed and kept looking for an □ for them. Our boys, 10 and 7 felt so comfortable with her they stared to refer to her as their teacher. She would ask of anyone wanted to follow her and since our family plus one other were the only ones, she pointed out everything she saw for us and brought us to every thing we would have missed had we ventured out on our own. We felt like we had a personal guide in the water with Cher.
