Adequate reason is not given as to why the conclusion of the government report (i.e. Geological Survey: "…the number of large earthquakes (magnitude 6.0 or greater) have stayed relatively constant…." and notes within the government report "…the last decade has produced substantially fewer large earthquakes than shown in the long-term averages…." 10 Remarkably, Hagee goes on to contradict directly the government report: "… it is true that the Bible predicts that earthquakes will increase in the last days, and the number of earthquakes measured has increased 1.58 times between 19." 11 The documentation given to support the supposed increase is faulty. Hagee references a report from the National Earthquake Information Center of the U.S. John Hagee, founder and pastor of the 15,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, authored the book Beginning of the End which became a New York Times bestseller. 8 What is the source of Stearman's statistics? When several readers of Stearman's article confronted him with much more earthquake data than in the mysterious citation from the newspaper, he apologized in print for the bad statistics, but, then, after his apology, reaffirmed that earthquakes are indeed increasing. The computer-searchable archives of the Philadelphia Inquirer reveal no article on earthquake frequency in that newspaper on Octoand no other issue of that newspaper during the decade of the 1990s. 6 Stearman gives specific numbers of earthquakes, and he cites as his source the Octoissue of the newspaper Philadelphia Inquirer:Īccording to that newspaper the number of Richter magnitude 6.0 and greater earthquakes worldwide has been increasing from nine in the 1950s, to 13 in the 1960s, to 51 in the 1970s, to 86 in the 1980s, and to more than 100 in the 1990s. Church writes of a distinct increase in our century. Church and Gary Stearman, editors of the magazine Prophecy in the News, argued that data show a pronounced increase in the frequency of the largest earthquakes in the 1990s. Geological Survey Earthquake Report, Boulder, Colorado). Finally, in the 1990's, as the present rate, we will experience 125 major killer quakes in this decade (Source: U.S. From 1949 the increase became awesome with 9 killer quakes in the 1950's 13 in the 60's 56 in the 1970's and an amazing 74 major quakes in the 1980's. From 1900 to 1949 it averaged three major quakes per decade. 1900, the growth in major earthquakes has been relentless. Two years before Lindsey's statement was published, Jeffrey wrote: Jeffrey, another Bible prophecy teacher and author of nine best-selling books, could be the source of Lindsey's statistics. 4 However, Missler and Van Impe do not give any further information on the source of Lindsey's statistics. 3 Lindsey's earthquake frequency numbers have been widely circulated by popular prophecy speakers such as Chuck Missler and Jack Van Impe. 2 Yet he does not give details of the report (author, date, report name, location, etc.). Lindsey cites the United States Geological Survey (USGS) in Boulder, Colorado. What is the source of Lindsey's statistics? In his book Planet Earth 2000 A.D. From 1990 through 1996, there have been more than 150. History shows that the number of killer quakes remained fairly constant until the 1950s - averaging between two to four per decade. Hal Lindsey, the world's best known Bible prophecy teacher and author of 17 books on prophecy, writes in one of his latest books:Įarthquakes continue to increase in frequency and intensity, just as the Bible predicts for the last days before the return of Christ. This coincidence of Jesus' prophetic statement and recent seismic events is viewed by these writers and teachers as clear demonstration of the nearness of the return of Christ. Many of the same writers and teachers claim that the decade of the 1990s has experienced a pronounced increase in both the frequency and intensity of earthquakes as compared to the earlier decades of the twentieth century. 30-39.)Īccording to a number of Christian writers and teachers on Bible prophecy, Jesus predicted in the Olivet Discourse that a pronounced increase in the frequency and intensity of earthquakes would occur just prior to His return to the earth. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus continued to delight users with their long-lasting battery and advanced camera. Let’s start with iPhone, which set a new March quarter record with revenue of $51.3 billion. Let me share how these results showed up across our lineup of products and services. Despite these challenges, we continue to manage for the long term and to push the limits of what’s possible always on behalf of the customers who depend on our products, whether it’s students exploring new frontiers, developers dreaming up their next big idea, or artists taking their creativity to a whole new level. Revenue was down 3% year over year as a result, while on a constant currency basis, we grew in total and in the vast majority of the markets we track. And whether it’s in the design lab in Cupertino or in one of the brand new retail stores in India, I am constantly inspired by the way our people come together to make a real difference in the world.ĭuring the March quarter, we continue to face foreign exchange headwinds, which had an impact of more than 500 basis points as well as ongoing challenges related to the macroeconomic environment. It speaks to the incredible power of Apple products and services to enrich people’s lives in indispensable ways. This result as a testament first and foremost to our teams around the world who are engaged every day in the work of bringing new innovations to life. We were particularly pleased with the performance we saw in emerging markets and achieved all time records in Mexico, Indonesia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE, as well as a number of March quarter records, including in Brazil, Malaysia, and India. We set an all-time record for services and a March quarter record for iPhone. Today, we’re reporting revenue of $94.8 billion for the March quarter, which was better than our expectations. Good afternoon everyone, and thanks for joining us. I’d now like to turn the call over to Tim for introductory remarks. Apple assumes no obligation to update any forward-looking statements or information which speak as of their respective dates. For more information, please refer to the risk factors discussed in Apple’s most recently filed annual report on form 10K and the form 8K filed with the SEC today, along with the associated press release. These statements involve risks and uncertainties that may cause actual results or trends to differ materially from our forecast. Please note that some of the information you’ll hear during our discussion today will consist of forward-looking statements including without limitation, those regarding revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, other income and expense, taxes, capital allocation and future business outlook, including the potential impact of macroeconomic conditions on the company’s business and results of operations. After that, we’ll open the call to questions from analysts. First today is Apple, CEO, Tim Cook, and he’ll be followed by CFO, Luca Maestri. Good afternoon and thank you for joining us.
“The characteristics of Glenglassaugh are that of a true coastal highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery,” GlenDronach ambassador Rory Glasgow says. The brand now has a bevy of rare and old stock that’s been carefully preserved for a release like this. While that might seem like tedious distillery history, it’s also a big part of why this particular vintage is so pricey: instead of continually bottling and selling its wares, the brand periodically closed up shop, which gave its Scotch more time to age. Having reopened in 2008, the brand has flown somewhat under the radar because of all the closures, but recently the distillery has been lauded for producing rather remarkable whisky. (If the math looks off, that’s because it includes two years of resting time in bottles.) Though the distillery was highly regarded in its time, they closed in 1907 because of a downturn in the single malt market, re-opened in 1960 when demand returned and then closed again in 1986, again because of poor market conditions. This particular scotch was distilled back in 1975, which is about 100 years after Glenglassaugh first began making whisky. Most of the Los Angeles booze scene was here, the room was packed and expectations were high. Rare aged spirits tend to accrue value over time, and the chance to taste a spirit worth almost $5K was headline-worthy. Olivetta’s glamorous West Hollywood dining room is usually packed, but it was particularly crowded on a recent Tuesday, when a gaggle of Scotch obsessives gathered to try something special: a 46-year-old bottle of single malt Glenglassaugh scotch, priced at a cool $4,800. Using 70% IPA, mix 8 ounces with 24 ounces of distilled water. This particular dilution ratio requires 50% IPA. This mixture is a 1:2 ratio resulting in a 25% solution. Pour 16 ounces of IPA into 16 ounces of distilled water. You will have effectively halved the concentration from 70% to 35%. In a 32 ounce container, blend 16 ounces of alcohol with 16 ounces of distilled water. If you’re looking for the strongest mixture to deal with the most stubborn of contaminants, begin with 70% IPA. Tap water often contains a high level of minerals that can leave spots when the water and alcohol have evaporated away. Some may think tap water will work for diluting isopropyl alcohol but distilled water is the better choice. Ecoatex contains absolutely no xylene, toluene, acetone, aromatic hydrocarbons, methylene chloride, etc.How can you use IPA in your detailing? Below are a few dilution methods you can use to create a solution that fits your needs. A solvent such as methylated spirits or ether usually works, but in some cases can leave a blue haze on the paintwork. Resin adheres so strongly to car paint that it is often impossible to remove it. The stubborn dirt on cars often comes from trees. High concentrations in the air can contribute to P.O.S. Rapid evaporation of these solvents creates a harmful working environment. Too often, acetone and thinner are still used to remove epoxy. When epoxy is heated, harmful fumes are released. Epoxy can be removed by making it liquid again or at least into a gel, so it can be removed from the surface. When epoxy has hardened, it can be very difficult to remove. Epoxy resin removalĮpoxy is initially liquid. Cleaning maintenance is normally very labour intensive and therefore costly. Aside from giving an unattractive appearance, resin stains can damage materials and cause business processes to grind to a halt. Exposure to these substances at the workplace is often higher than in the general living environment. Exposure to these substances is undesirable for everyone because of the harmful health effects that can occur. The effects of these substances on the mother or if substances reach the unborn child through the placenta, abnormalities can occur that lead to the early termination of pregnancy (miscarriage), premature birth or reduced birth weight, or to the development of congenital defects or other developmental disorders. These substances can also be harmful during pregnancy. Reproductive toxins can affects all the organs and cells of the body, including the sexual organs and reproductive cells, which can impair fertility. This is an irreversible impairment of the brain through the inhalation of harmful solvents. Rapid evaporation of methylene chloride creates a harmful working environment due to high concentrations in the air and can therefore contribute to P.O.S. Resin removal often requires very harmful solvents such as methylene chloride or NMP and NEP (both reprotoxic). This also applies to tools and machines that are contaminated. The resin must be removed in order to treat a surface. Resin is a problem when it is on a surface that should be clean and dry. Epoxy adhesive is also widely used as a repair adhesive, using a solid as filler (‘liquid steel’ or ‘liquid wood’). Epoxy resins are also widely used as two-component adhesives in industry. It can be applied as a topcoat (coating) or in combination with fibreglass. Epoxy resins are a group of polymers with an important application in coatings. With coatings based on polyurethane chemistry, these requirements can be met. after curing, chemically and physically inert) and low water permeability. Automotive paints have certain requirements, such as good scratch resistance (i.e. For example, polyurethanes are used in paints and coatings such as automotive paints. The access codes are obviously for one-time use only. And you can control another user’s computer by entering the “Access Code” generated by that user. Just “Get Started” and you can share your computer with another user by generating and sharing an unique “Access Code”. But for Mac OS X, you have to enter the PIN code every time you want to access it (whether it’s from another computer or a mobile device).Īgain, if you want to share your screen with someone else to get remote support or anything like that then you can use the “Remote Assistance” feature of Chrome Remote Desktop. My impression completely changed when Microsoft and Google introduced their own Remote Desktop apps for web and mobile a few years back. It was simply not the kind of productivity apps that I wanted or even care about. and almost all of them failed to impress me. Then, with the advent of the smartphone era, I tried remote desktop apps for mobile like Splashtop, PocketCloud, LogMeIn,, and TeamViewer, etc. But I was least interested in trying those remote desktop connection managers as it was of no use to me. It was a terrible experience and never worked for me as it involved quite a few network settings and protocols - which I still don’t understand much.Īnd there were few free and premium remote desktop connection managers like LogMeIn, GoToMyPC, etc. There was a time when I (and probably you) struggled with Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop software on a Windows PC to remotely access someone else’s computer. After Stevens's retirement, a group of senior enlisted leaders came to the conclusion that the Navy needed to replace its current enlisted system and announced the changes on 29 September 2016 with the release of NAVADMIN 218/16. Stevens, oversaw a review of the Navy's existing enlisted rating system. Temporary end of ratings īeginning in June 2016, then Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Michael D. Navy enlisted rating structure played a key role in career development, serving as a basis for training, detailing, advancement, and simply keeping tabs on several hundred thousand sailors. Since the establishment of the rating system, the U.S. The rating of "Specialist" was discontinued in 1948. Navy also briefly maintained a rating of " Specialist", similar to the rank in the U.S. The first steamship, mine, radar, torpedo, aircraft carrier, and many other "firsts" all established a new era in the Navy, and each directly impacted the enlisted occupation structure. Navy's rating system changed so did the U.S. Currently, all specialty marks for new ratings are approved by the Permanent Naval Uniform Board, which is a division of the Bureau of Naval Personnel. The Master-at-Arms, the police officer of a ship, wore the star of authority and the Gunner's Mate wore two crossed cannons. The marks consisted of the tools or instruments used in each rating's specific duty. It was not until 1841 that distinguishing marks for a rating were prescribed in the Regulations of the Secretary of the Navy, but specialty marks were not added to enlisted men's uniforms until 1866. During this time, ship crews were taken from civilian life and enlisted for only one cruise, thus making the job at hand the primary consideration, rather than career possibilities. These were titles of the jobs that individuals were actually performing and became the basis for petty officers and ratings. These included Boatswain's mate, Quartermaster, and Gunner's Mate. The Navy of the United Colonies of the 1775 era offered only a few different jobs above the level of ordinary seaman. Navy's enlisted occupational system was a product of more than 200 years of Naval evolution. Main article: History of United States Navy ratings Naval Officers: Although naval officers do specialize in various fields their occupations are classified according to designators for both officers of the line (e.g., line officers) and those of the professional staff corps. A Sailor actively working toward a specific rating is referred to as "striking for a rating" and is called a "striker". They are instead divided into five general occupational fields (airman, constructionman, fireman, hospitalman, or seaman). Sailors from pay-grades E-1 to E-3 have no rates and are considered to be in apprenticeships or training for a rating, thus the slang term "non-rates" when referring to them as a group. Thus, boatswain's mate second class (BM2) would be that sailor's rate. For example, if a sailor has the pay-grade of E-5 (rank of petty officer second class) and the rating of boatswain's mate, then combining the two-boatswain's mate second class (BM2)-defines both rank and rating in formal address or epistolary salutation. Enlisted service members (sailors) are often referred to by a combination of both their rating and their pay-grade. Ratings should not be confused with rates, which describe the Navy's enlisted rank and pay-grades. naval ratings are the equivalent of military occupational specialty codes (MOS codes) used by the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps, the ratings system used by the United States Coast Guard, and Air Force Specialty Codes (AFSC) used by the United States Air Force and United States Space Force. Each naval rating has its own specialty badge, which is worn on the left sleeve of dress uniforms of enlisted personnel.
